Nonverbal Expressions

There are many nonverbal messages. The nonverbal messages are appearance, facial expression and eye contact, posture and walk, gestures, voice, space, time, and place, and feelings. These meanings can demonstrate good and bad communication. Appearance is how you look about a topic, or the message your look gives off. Facial expression is the way your face tell about a subject. Eye contact is how or what you eyes doing when talking about a subject. Posture and walk is how you sit of stand that give a negative or positive form of communication. Gestures is what you do with your fingers, hands, and arms while talking about a subject. Space, time, and place is where your at when talking about a subject and what time it is, If it is early in the morning you might yawn to show you are tired or ready for bed. Feeling and voice is the message your voice give off about a subject. If you talk slow or boring it shows your not interested in the subject. I have tons of expeariences with all of theses meaning. Most of the time I do no even realize I am doing it, but it still can give off negative or positive communication. A example is if I feel strong about a subject I will be interested so I will shoe great energy. That is a good form of communication. How ever if I do not agree with what is going on I would roll my eyes.

Communication Situations

There are four types of communication situations. They are interpersonal, group, public, and interpretive communication. Interpersonal communication is communication between two people, such as talking with your best friend. Group communication is working with people in a sgroup. An example of group communication is working in a smalll group on a assignment. Public communication is presenting something in front of people. Giving a book report in front of a class is a form of public communication. Finally interpretive communication is bringing liturature to life. An example of this is reading a book to a group of kids. I have had many personal experiences with public communication. One experience I have had with it is giving speeches in spanish and in communication class.

Encoding and Decoding a Message

Encoding is to think of what your going to say as a speaker or to a speaker. An example is listening to a speech and thinking about what your feedback is going to be. A personal experience for encoding is my friend had a speech in spanish and I had to do encoding to see what I was going to say about his speech. Decoding a message is interpreting what the speaker was saying. An experience I have had with decoding is listening to a speech in communications class and trying to think of what the speaker meant.             Heathmont Venturers decoding the message

Verbal and Nonverbal Messaging

Verbal messaging is communicating with words. Some examples of verbal messaging is reading a book, listening to music, texting a friend, and talking on the phone. Most people think that verbal communication is just talking on the phone or talking face to face with someone. However letters can be a form of verbal communication because it uses words as well. Nonverbal on the other hand is communicating without words. Some examples of nonverbal messaging are sign language, posture, time, place, space, eye contact, and facial expressions. These things can give off both positive and negative signs such as rolling our eyes can show someone does not agree with something or having a smile on your face can show your happy. A personal experience of nonverbal communication is my friend did not agree with me and he rolled his eyes at me.

The Communication Process

Communication is considered a process because it is never ending. An example of the process is when someone has a friend in high school, they graduate, and don't talk anymore. But even though they do not talk, they still are sending nonverbal messages by not talking to them or if they meet up the do not have to start over, they start where they left off. It is a process where negative or positive communication is sent, also it can be both verbal and nonverbal communication. A personal experience I have had is having a friend move away. When he came back to visit after two years we started where we left off.
